About the Job
We are looking for a skilled RAN Performance Optimization Engineer to ensure optimal performance and efficiency of the Radio Access Network (RAN/VRAN/ORAN) across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G (SA/NSA) technologies. The role requires a strong grasp of cellular technologies, data analysis, and a hands-on approach to resolving network performance issues. You’ll play a crucial role in monitoring KPIs, identifying degradation, and implementing optimization strategies to enhance network quality, capacity, and coverage.

- Data analytics/Business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau)
- Strong understanding of LTE/5G features like CQI, SINR, handover mechanisms, and carrier aggregation.
- Strong understanding of 5G ORAN standards, virtualization technologies, containerization.
- Strong understanding of RAN technologies (e.g. 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G), protocols, and architectures and Call flow Analysis.
- Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Samsung/Mavenir/Ericsson ENM/Nokia NetAct/Huawei U2020).
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK
- Experience with VoLTE, VoNR, and other IMS-based services.
- Experience with RAN performance tools like Q-GIS,TEMS, Actix, Drive Test tools, NetAct, ENM, Wireshark, NEMO etc.
- Familiarity with automation scripts (Python, SQL) to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Ability to interpret network data and KPIs to pinpoint areas of improvement.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and network traffic forecasting.
- Expertise in troubleshooting network issues and RCA for performance bottlenecks.
Role & Responsibilities
- Monitor, Investigate, resolve the issues related to RAN KPIs and metrics, such as throughput, latency, call drops, handovers, and signal quality.
- Use tools like OSS (Operations Support Systems), NetAct, ENM, or other vendor-specific platforms to collect and analyse performance data.
- Generate regular reports to track network performance trends and detect anomalies.
- Perform trials in “golden clusters” to validate network features
- Collaborate with ORAN vendors to develop and implement FOAs
- Call Flow Analysis including Drive test analysis
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for network performance degradation and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with field teams to conduct drive tests for identifying coverage or capacity issues.
- Conduct parameter audits and optimization to improve coverage, capacity, and quality of service (QoS).
- Optimize key features like carrier aggregation, MIMO, VoLTE, and VoNR performance in LTE/5G networks.
- Evaluate and forecast network capacity requirements based on traffic trends.
- Collaborate with RF planning teams to recommend hardware or software upgrades for capacity improvement.
- Ensure smooth integration and optimization of new sites or technologies (e.g., 5G NR deployment).
- Utilize tools such as Atoll, TEMS, Actix, and/or proprietary tools for drive test analysis and performance evaluations.
- Automate routine tasks like data collection, reporting, or parameter audits to improve efficiency.
- Analyse customer complaints related to network issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Support the optimization of coverage in high-priority areas like urban zones, stadiums, and business districts.
- Create detailed performance reports for internal teams and management.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all optimization activities, parameter changes, and test results.
