About the Job
We are seeking a highly experienced RF Design Engineer with a strong background in wireless network design, planning, and optimization. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in 5G radio technologies, hands-on experience with RF design tools, and a solid understanding of regulatory standards. This role requires someone capable of driving end-to-end design initiatives, developing technical guidelines, and supporting cross-functional engineering teams.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
Experience Requirements
- 12+ years of overall experience in wireless telecommunications with at least 5+ years in 5G RF Design.
- Strong understanding of RF Planning Theory, including Model Tuning, Link Budget Analysis, Monte Carlo Simulations, and FCC Regulatory compliance.
- Extensive experience with design tools such as Planet, MapInfo, and other industry-standard software.
- Proficient in 3G/4G/5G cellular technologies with in-depth knowledge of NR theory and O-RAN architecture.
- Demonstrated experience in macro, small cell, and in-building RF designs, including associated RF KPIs and link budgets.
- Familiarity with equipment co-location requirements for multi-operator environments and ability to conduct inter-modulation and external interference analysis.
- Knowledge and experience with EME and FCC reporting processes.
- Proficiency in drive test data post-processing and interference analysis.
- Strong knowledge of in-building design using iBwave; Level 1 or Level 2 certification preferred.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and execute RF design projects across macro, small cell, and in-building environments.
- Develop and document design guidelines, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and best practices.
- Perform RF planning, model tuning, and simulation analysis to support network expansion and optimization.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to regional/market engineers.
- Ensure designs are compliant with regulatory standards (FCC, EME) and customer specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful project delivery and technical excellence.
- Leverage design tools (Planet, MapInfo, Atoll) and post-processing tools for performance analysis and improvements.
